💔 Why We Need Places Like Healing Havens

My story is a perfect example of why the world so deeply needs places like Healing Havens.

My mother passed away just four months before my third birthday. I was left with my dad and brother who was two years older — both doing their best, but none of us truly able to meet each other’s emotional needs. From as early as I can remember, I had no one to turn to, no safe place to go, and no nurturing presence to help me make sense of my feelings or fears.

Now, decades later, I can see how many people are in that same situation — not only children, but adults too. People who have lost loved ones, direction, or hope. People who are living without safety, connection, or belonging. Some are sleeping on the streets, while others are suffering quietly in homes that no longer feel like home.

Our society has hospitals for the body, schools for the mind, and prisons for those who’ve lost their way — but where are the sanctuaries for the heart? Where are the places you can go when life falls apart, when you’ve lost your footing, and simply need to be held, heard, and healed?

That’s why we are building Healing Havens — safe, loving spaces where people can come and stay for as long as they need. Not institutions, but sanctuaries — homes filled with warmth, compassion, and renewal. Each haven offers what so many never had growing up: community, care, and a true sense of home.

Because no one should go through life without a place to rest, to be seen, and to heal.

Healing Havens are the answer to that missing need — and the beginning of a new way of living.
